who is mrs peacock?

Why am I called Mrs Peacock I hear you ask?

Quite simply, when considering whether I might share my love of dyeing with others, the name of Mrs Peacock, from the mystery board game of Cluedo, was quietly and clearly dropped into my “mental inbox”. And the concept and story of Mrs Peacock Yarns began to unfold from there.

The Cluedo Collection is my interpretation of the Cluedo characters, along with colourways inspired by some of the murder weapons and crime scene locations. A few of these have naturally become self-striping colourways as I sought to represent them best, such as the Dagger colourway.

And who exactly is Mrs Peacock?

My name is Cynthia and I live in beautiful New Zealand, where there are many more sheep than people - 5.6 sheep per person to be exact! I am a knitter and sewist with a love of crafting and learning, and a deep interest in colour - how colours work together or play off each other, along with how colour can generate different feelings, whether they be feelings of excitement, joy or calm.

Through my interest in “slow fashion” I began to consider the source and journey of our clothes, from raw material to finished product. I realised that in making our own clothes, while we hope to be delighted with the end product, it is also important to find joy in the journey and process of making and creating.

My hope is that my yarn gives you pleasure as you enjoy the wonderful feel while you work with it and observe the stripes or patterns of colour unfolding, as your own hands create.
